Hey my lovely little REMlins. I hope I find you well this December. First thing I wanted to do, and try to always do when I address you directly, is thank you. I know every one of you is a unique snowflake, and each of you have a very busy schedule and complicated life, so the simple fact that you take time out of your life to read my ramblings is something that never fails to make me smile, whilst also making me realize how lucky I am to be where I am, and to be sharing it with the people I am. You all. I mean that genuinely, and I hope you know that. Also, in case I have not asked, please go toss a LIKE over here on my Facebook. It will take you 1.2 seconds, and will make my soul smile, which is fair of me to request. It is also the place I update most, so if you like my mental musings, that is the best place to follow me (and all my other writing), as well as interact with me. Okay enough plugging, now onto the real reason we are here…
RemyCarreiro.com is in the genesis of what is set to be some pretty monumental changes.
First off, don’t worry. Nothing weird and nothing bad. No, I have not sold out (yet) and honestly, nothing about content will be changing. If anything, I’d like to think that this site has finally found its legs. I poke fun at pop culture whilst also trying to observe it with a keen and honest eye. On top of, I talk a lot of film, a bit about music, and I tell you traumatizing true stories about my life so others may avoid similar fates (and laugh at me).
On top of potentially adding a few more interviews to my repertoire, nothing is going to change in the substance department. While I am looking into some new advertisers, I am doing my best to make sure the type of things we advertise on this site will be things that people who read the site would be into. I am talking about literature, homemade skateboards, vaporizers, and other cool shwag, and I promise you will not see big, blinking banners that you will make you want to rip your eyes out (by the way, interested in advertising with us, hit me up here and tell me why we’d be a good fit) but all talk of substance aside, we are definitely looking to change-up the style.
This baby is getting an overhaul.
I know, random cat. I am just as shocked as you are.
I am sure the best of you noticed the weird, “Lisa Frank on Acid” theme we had been rocking for a year or so now has been slightly cleaned up (using slick solid black right now as the filler) and I just wanted to make all of you aware there may be a little less writing going up on RemyCarreiro.com in the next month or two. Relax. This is not a bad thing. This is simply me buying myself and some other good people some time to work on the aesthetic of the site a little bit. Can’t do both at the same time, sadly. At least I can’t. Not that talented. Wouldn’t ask of my business partner, either. Good things take time, and that may be the case here.
I may have used slick, bright colors and floating pieces of bacon to bring you in, but I think it’s safe to say a great deal of you have stuck around (this site is at 2,200,000 hits and counting in 16 months) and I truly believe I need a site that reflects us all more. Remy and his REMlins. We deserve something a little more sleek and sexy, a little more refined. So right now, and for the next few months, that will be a focus of mine, as I am sure you can understand. I am a thug now, and want a site that reflects that. Just kidding. I just wanted a reason to use this pic of me with my fake candy grill in. Moving on.
The reason I am telling you this is because the last thing I want any of you thinking is that this little baby of mine is going away. Oh no, my dears. The big name sites already know I exist. The best of you out there have helped make me viral, and continue to do so. While content may get quiet for a minute or two, this is all about evolution. The web is filled with shit. All sites that say the same shit, run the same stories, and kiss the same ass. This site is the “Little Engine That Could” of websites. The underdog that has managed to climb the hill when everyone thought it would putter out and die, so guess what, fuck train tracks.
I wont be happy until RemyCarreiro.com can fly, and the next time you see me, that is exactly what I will be doing.
In the meantime, all I ask is that you remain patient with me as we experiment with design and layout for a bit. If you need to read me, I will have new stuff going up on Unreality, WeGotThisCovered, Stylequirk, and many other sites every week, so there will never be a shortage of ramblings on my part, you just need to know where to look. There will still definitely be new stuff going up here weekly, but it might not be as much as I normally do, and just wanted to take a moment to let me REMlins know. For now I want to figure out how to repackage this setup just a bit little sexier. It’ll be worth it, I promise.
